What PsiQuantum Does

PsiQuantum is the most heavily funded private quantum computing company in the world. Founded in 2015 by Jeremy O'Brien and Terry Rudolph, it is betting everything on a single leap: skipping the noisy intermediate-scale (NISQ) era entirely and building a fault-tolerant, utility-scale photonic quantum computer with roughly one million physical qubits.

Its photonic approach encodes qubits in single photons routed through silicon photonic chips, manufactured on standard semiconductor lines through a partnership with GlobalFoundries. Photons do not decohere the way matter-based qubits do and operate without dilution refrigerators at the chip level, which PsiQuantum argues makes photonics the only modality that can reach millions of qubits with existing fab infrastructure.

PsiQuantum has not announced an IPO. Its September 2025 Series E raised $1 billion at a $7 billion valuation — led by funds managed by BlackRock with Temasek and Baillie Gifford — giving it substantial runway before public capital is needed. It is widely viewed as the most likely blockbuster quantum IPO of the late 2020s.

Technology: Fusion-based photonic quantum computing; Omega photonic chipset (published in Nature, 2025); manufactured with GlobalFoundries.
Roadmap: Utility-scale fault-tolerant sites under construction in Brisbane, Australia and Chicago, Illinois, with the Brisbane system targeted to be operational around 2027.

How to Get Exposure Today

The closest public comparables are the photonic pure-plays: Xanadu (XNDU) pursues the same photonic fault-tolerant path, and Quantum Computing Inc (QUBT) builds photonic/entropy systems. Broad exposure to the sector is available via the QTUM ETF.

PsiQuantum Stock FAQ

Can you buy PsiQuantum stock?

No. PsiQuantum is a private company — its shares do not trade on any public exchange. Some pre-IPO marketplaces list secondary shares for accredited investors, but there is no public PsiQuantum ticker.

When is the PsiQuantum IPO?

PsiQuantum has not announced an IPO. After its $1B Series E (September 2025, $7B valuation) it has substantial private runway; analysts generally view a listing as unlikely before its first utility-scale systems come online around 2027.

What is PsiQuantum's valuation?

PsiQuantum was valued at $7 billion in its September 2025 Series E, which raised $1 billion led by funds managed by BlackRock, with Temasek and Baillie Gifford participating.

How can I invest in photonic quantum computing today?

Two photonic pure-plays already trade publicly: Xanadu (XNDU) and Quantum Computing Inc (QUBT). Diversified exposure to the whole quantum sector is available through ETFs such as QTUM.
