What Equal1 Does

Equal1 is Ireland's first quantum computing company, spun out of University College Dublin by Dirk Leipold, Mike Asker and Professor R. Bogdan Staszewski. It builds silicon spin qubits on a "quantum system-on-chip" — integrating qubits, classical Arm processors, an NPU and quantum control electronics onto a single chip fabricated on GlobalFoundries' 22FDX process. Its original product, Bell-1, was a six-qubit, rack-mountable quantum server that ran at 0.3 Kelvin without an external dilution refrigerator. In May 2026 Equal1 unveiled RacQ, the next-generation evolution of Bell-1 and the world's first deployable rack-mounted silicon-spin quantum computer built to live inside a standard 19-inch data center rack.

In January 2026 Equal1 closed a $60 million (€51.5M) funding round led by the Ireland Strategic Investment Fund, with Atlantic Bridge, the European Innovation Council Fund and Enterprise Ireland participating, bringing total disclosed funding above $85 million. It has an NVIDIA collaboration on quantum-classical hybrid computing signed in October 2024, and RacQ is being demonstrated with Dell Technologies for hybrid quantum-classical compute (HQCC) in standard data center racks.

Technology: Silicon spin qubits integrated with classical Arm CPUs and control electronics on a single "quantum system-on-chip," powered by the UnityQ chip and fabricated on GlobalFoundries' 22FDX process; RacQ is a rack-mounted quantum computer operating at 0.3K on ~1.6kW of standard single-phase power, the rack-mounted successor to Bell-1.
Roadmap: Scale RacQ deployments to HPC and enterprise customers — including a Dell Technologies hybrid quantum-classical compute (HQCC) collaboration — and grow qubit count on its integrated UnityQ system-on-chip architecture.
