What IQM Quantum Computers Does

IQM is Europe's largest quantum computing hardware company, spun out of Aalto University and Finland's VTT Technical Research Centre in 2018. Unlike cloud-first rivals, IQM's core business is selling full on-premises superconducting quantum computers to national labs, HPC centers and universities — with systems delivered across Finland, Germany, Spain, Poland, South Korea, Taiwan and beyond.

Its superconducting approach is the same modality as IBM, Google and Rigetti: fast gate speeds, semiconductor-style fabrication, and a well-understood path to error correction via surface codes. IQM operates its own fabrication facility in Espoo, one of the few in Europe capable of producing quantum processors.

In 2026 IQM announced a merger with Real Asset Acquisition Corp at a valuation around $1.8 billion, expected to complete mid-2026, positioning it to become the first listed European quantum computing company.

Technology: Superconducting transmon qubits; on-premises systems (IQM Spark, IQM Radiance up to 54 qubits); in-house fab in Espoo, Finland.
Roadmap: Published roadmap targets fault-tolerant quantum computing by 2030, scaling through 150- and 300-qubit Radiance-class systems with error-corrected logical qubits.

How to Get Exposure Today

Rigetti (RGTI) is the closest public comparable — a superconducting pure-play that also runs its own fab. D-Wave (QBTS) builds superconducting annealers. Sector-wide exposure is available via the QTUM ETF.

IQM Quantum Computers Stock FAQ

Can you buy IQM stock?

Not yet. IQM announced a merger with Real Asset Acquisition Corp expected to complete mid-2026. Until closing, only the SPAC shell trades; after closing, IQM is set to become the first listed European quantum computing company.

What is IQM's valuation?

The announced SPAC merger values IQM at roughly $1.8 billion. It previously raised a €128M Series A2 in 2022, then the largest European quantum round.

How does IQM compare to Rigetti?

Both build superconducting quantum computers with in-house fabs. Rigetti (RGTI) is cloud-focused from the US; IQM's differentiator is selling full on-premises systems to European and Asian HPC centers, making it Europe's most-deployed quantum hardware vendor.

How can I invest in superconducting quantum computing today?

Rigetti (RGTI) is the listed superconducting gate-model pure-play, and D-Wave (QBTS) lists superconducting annealing systems. IBM and Google also run large superconducting programs inside diversified parents.
